Things to do

Every day something different...

Relax by the pool

Enjoy a day at the B&B, relax by the pool. Enjoy the view and the tranquility. Grab a cup of coffee, there's probably still some goodies left over from breakfast to go with it. Is it the end of the afternoon and you get hungry long before the Italian restaurants open - grab a bottle of wine from the honesty fridge and ask your hosts for an aperitivo (Italian drink platter).

Relax on the beach

Sun, sun and more sun - we can almost guarantee it. So if you like lying on the beach, then you're in the right place here. In about 15 minutes by car you can be lying on a bed in Giulianova, Tortoreto Lido or Alba Adriatica. These coastal towns have a bustling summer season with lots of liveliness, market stalls and restaurants everywhere with delicious freshly caught fish on the menu.

Nice and active - walking

We live close to several national parks in Abruzzo and Le Marche. A 20-minute drive will take you to the Gran Sasso Lago National Park. Here you can do a gorge walk, visit caves, climb the top of the Gemelli (twin mountains) or visit a waterfall. If you drive a little further, you can spot the Italian Big 5 together with a guide on a (multi-day) walking tour. Bears, wolves, wild boars, chamois and red deer... no guarantees on the bear, but it lives there!

Nice and active - by bike

Take your racing bike with you and discover the many villages in the area while cycling. Everywhere you will find a café or a restaurant if you need something for if you feel peckish. The giro d'Italia will do three stages in Abruzzo in 2023. And on day 2, they get really close. Hike down the mountain for 10 minutes and then you can watch them all flash by on their way to Nereto. If you have your electric bikes with you, no mountain is too high of course! Book an electric mountain bike tour with a guide and let yourself be carried away along beaches, along little-used country paths and through beautiful landscapes and historic villages. And if you're hungry after all that effort, finish with a degustazione - a tasting at a local winery with tasty snacks.

On an adventure - to a waterfall

If you are looking to cool off in the summer, the waterfalls at Cascate di Forcella just across the border in Le Marche are worth a visit. From the parking lot you take a short walk (10 minutes) downhill and then you will be rewarded with a beautiful waterfall. Take a dip in the fresh water and clamber over the rocks to have your photo taken behind the large waterfall. Then relax in the shallow water.

On an adventure - climbing forest or skiing

With the mountains so close by, there are many adventures to be had. If you have the children with you, a climbing forest might be a nice change. And if you visit us in the winter, a day of skiing is definitely recommended! Campo Imperatore is 45 minutes away, Monte Piselli 50 minutes and Prato di Tivo 70 minutes, plenty of choice!

On an adventure - karting

Do you feel like racing? That is possible because we have 2 open-air go-kart tracks about a 15-minute drive away. 1 is on the main road to Giullianova and the other can be found in Sant Egidio ala Vibrata.

Visit one of the many beautiful places

Really worth a visit is Civitella del Tronto, a fortress town half an hour's drive away. The citadel (fortress) of Civitella del Tronto is the largest built by the Bourbon family in Europe. The Bourbons were the kings of Naples, to which the region belonged until the unification of Italy. Civitella del Tronto was on the northern border of the kingdom on top of a high outcrop. Even today you have a fantastic view from the castle that runs on one side from the hills of the region via the Abruzzese Apennines to the hills of the Marches and on the other side shows the Adriatic Coast. On the way back you drive via Campli, and take the holy stairs (La Scala Santa).
You should not miss Ascoli Piceno either. Located in the south of the Marche region, it is also called the 'city of a hundred towers'. But Ascoli Piceno is not only known for its tall towers. You will also find beautiful squares and museums, richly decorated churches and fountains. And almost all buildings in the historic center are made of white travertine - in the summer, bring your sunglasses!

Enjoy the local products

Of course you always eat and drink fantastic in Italy, that needs no explanation. Abruzzo has its own specialties, do some research! There are many artisanal products prepared in the traditional way: delicious sausages, fresh fruits, sheep cheeses and of course the homemade pastas. And all to deglaze with a delicious glass of local wine. The Pecorino, Trebbiano and Montepulciano are common local grape varieties from which fantastic wines are made at the many small wineries. A visit to a wine cantina is therefore also a must. In the summer there are many village festivals, all with a delicacy as theme. Our favorite - the truffle feast in Campovolano!
